Destrehan, La.
Submitted by John Sheldon Perilloux
On 29 Jan 1999 I began collecting information from tombstones,
grave markers and vaults on
burials in St. Charles Borromeo
Cemetery in Destrehan, La. This project will continue until all
information in this cemetery has been recorded.
Five of the oldest tombs in this cemetery, obviously in a sad
state of neglect.
Because of erosion by the Mississippi River,
the levee has had to be set back several times.
Some of the
graves in this cemetery would be where the river now flows, some
would be
under the present levee and some under River Road.
