possibly Nathan, Allen, Andrew Jackson, William, and Leonard. There is a close
relationship between the St. Tammany Parish Pages and the Jones County, MS
Pages. Sophia's mother d. 22 Sept 1858 in St. Tammany Parish. There were two
Elizabeth Pages in the 1850 census, believed to be sisters-in-law, and I do not
know which is my ancestress. One Elizabeth was b. 1780 in NC and was living with
Martha PHILLIPS, a widow born in GA in 1805, perhaps a sister to Sophia. This
Martha Phillips was closely related to Hezekiah Wilson Page of Jones Co., MS.
The other Elizabeth was b. 1770 in NC, and was living with Andrew Page, James

Elizabeth was next door to Jefferson Page who was living with M. COLLINS. Any

My
ancestor Reuben BEAVERS was born 1783 in VA. He married Mary HEADEN, daughter of
William HEADEN Jr. and Susannah ROBERTSON. Reuben was a witness in GA to the
will of William HEADEN Sr. in 1808. Reuben and Mary lived after that for awhile
in St. Tammany Parish, LA then moved on to Caldwell Parish. He was the son of
Robert BEAVERS and Jane LITTLE. Robert was the son Thomas BEAVERS and Martha
(CLACK or CARGILL), Thomas was the son of the immigrant John BEAVERS who was
born 1695 in Ireland, and immigrated to NJ. Reuben's son Albert K. BEAVERS
(Civil War vet.) was my ancestor. He was married to Sarah L. HARRIS. My query
is: Who were Sarah HARRIS' parents. She was born in LA. Who were Jane LITTLE's
parents? (born 5 Mar 1750 NJ) Who were Susannah ROBERTSON's parents? She was
born 1762 in GA, died bef. 1839 in LA) Did William HEADEN Jr. leave a will? Did
Reuben BEAVERS leave a will. Does anyone out there know anything about these

My great grandparents
were John STRAIN married to Ellen RAY they had twin girls born 8-13-1865 in New
Orleans (per the birth certificate ) named Elizabeth and Mary Hellen Strain.
Ellen RAY was from Ireland. We were under the( mistaken ?) opinion for years
that our greatgrandparents were John STRAIN and (---?---) DeCoursey. The story
being that John STRAIN was the master of a ship that transported immigrants to
the US (New Orleans) and that (--?--) DeCoursey was a passnger from France whom
he married, even to the fact that she walked with a limp. I am satisfied that
both John STRAIN's are my ascedants but where (--?--) DeCoursey fits in is a
question, my guess is that she is my GrGrgrandmother, mother of the John STRAIN
married to Ellen RAY. FACT;; In the war of 1812 at the Battle of Lake Champlain
fought at Plattsburg NY John STRAIN "BOY" was awarded a medal by Captain Thomas
Macdonough, Commander of the Squadron. on 14 September 1814 (the medal is in the
possession of my cousins CONNOR.) ( Designating John as "BOY" makes me thing he
was about 14 / 15 years of age making him born about 1800). As you are no doubt
aware the final battle of the war of 1812 was The Battle of New Orleans 1-8-1815
which in my opinion brought John STRAIN to the New Orleans area if in fact he
had not come from there previously. My guess is that this John STRAIN married
DeCOURSEY and was possibly the parent of the John STRAIN married to Ellen RAY.
Any help would be appreciated.
