Cemetery next to St. Anthony Catholic Church - Original Subscribers
On Sep. 5, 1837, 38 people paid $2 each to Louis Jean Baptiste HEBERT
for a cemetery on Bayou Black. The lot is 1 arpent front on the left side of Bayou Black by 1 arpent depth; beginning 10 feet front (reserved
for a channel) between HEBERT and his ascending lower neighbor. [Houma Courthouse - Original Acts #1224]
This is the beginning of the cemetery
next to St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Bayou Black. When Hwy 90 was paved, Rivers Breaux tells me that they dug up the graves nearest the road
and reburied them in the back, but no records were kept.
