Burrell Jones' Log House was built circa 1885

Burrell R. Jones was born Aug 1858 and died 1949 in Washington Parish. He married Estelle Talley [Feb 1862- 5 Oct 1901] in 1884. She died 5 Oct 1901. Their children were Doretta, Ardenia, James F. and Lannes Jones. Her parents were Mary Talley and John Haney Tally. They are both buried in Jones Cemetery.

Their son, Lannes Jones, 22 Jan 1894 - 20 Apr 1972 married Gussie E. Green, 23 Jan 1898-10 Feb 1973. Lannes and Jones had 3 children: Freeda and Earl Horace. Lannes and Gussie are both buried in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, Enon, Washington Parish. World War 1 & World War II Draft Registration Cards

A one-room structure built shortly after 1885, this log cabin measures approximately 19 X 20 feet. The chimneys are made of mud with three doors to the outside and porches across the front and back. Split shingles comprise the room and sills are made of heart pine. The foundation rests on huge split wood blocks. Mrs. Freeda Jones Kaylor and Earl Jones donated the cabin to MBS in 1979.
