In the other part of the Island is a lone tomb in what was the original cemetery. On the tomb is an inscription that the person buried there drowned in the bay. The original cemetery was destroyed during the storm that caused the destruction of King Chenier, and occurred about the same time that Galveston, Texas was flooded by a tidal wave in 1900. Many inhabitants of this island are related to the men who were with Jean LaFitte. (Cemetery List Recorded in 1935)
