William Norris - family lore has it that he was a State Senator during the late 1860s/early 1870s for Jefferson Parish.
The 1870 Census of Jefferson Parish list him as occupation "Legislator", and as owning real estate valued at $4,000 and personal property valued at $300. He is listed with his 2nd wife Lucy A. 27, a daughter Amanda 16, son Charles 14, and another daughter Susan 1.
His wife, Lucy A. was dead by about 1861. William then married Martha JACOBS. The 1880 Census shows William living in West Baton Rouge Parish. Son Charles is in the household.
3rd wife Martha Jacobs is also in the household along with the
children she has borne for William: Ella 9, Robert 8, Louisa 6, Mary
2, and Henrietta 1 month old.
