The Stroud family that I'm descended from came to the US on the Snow Betty Gregg in 1768. William Stroud had multiple sons, one of whom, Hampton Stroud, came to Louisiana in Catahoula Parish. I am descended from a C.D. Stroud. He is sometimes called Charles and sometimes called Clarence, depending on the source. C.D. Married a Miranda (Maranda, Mirandy) Brady, who was the widow of George Brady. C.D. Was wounded in the siege of Vicksburg in Mississippi and paroled back home.
I can draw a straight line from C.D. To myself because his son is George T. Stroud, and that much is well documented. What isn't documented is who C.D.'s father was. I presume it's Hampton Stroud, but I have no proof in writing. Hampton was a veteran of the Revolution, according to his pension papers.
Below a series of pension documents which were filed by Miranda Brady, which may help you in some way. Included are letters to Miranda from George Brady, her former husband, and an amnesty oath signed by C.D. Stroud.
