J H Meyers donated land to the school board office for a school on Jun 5, 1908. This school was known as Meyers School House. The school was attended by the Meyers children and the Coon Barron children who crossed the Ouachita River to attend the school. Mrs Clara Curry was one of the early school teachers. She was educated at La Tech. Mrs Curry taught school for $12.00 a month. She rode a horse, side-saddle for several miles to teach at the school.

The school bell was placed at the Meyers Bend Pentecostal Church. In the picture, standing on the back row next to Mrs Curry is Collam Meyers, next to him is C L Barron, and 5th from Mrs Curry is Edna Meyers.
