Johnson, Hon. Andrew R. Jr.

Hon. Andrew R. Johnson, Jr. A conspicuous figure in the ,business, public and political affairs of northern Louisiana for over a quarter of a century has been Andrew R. Johnson, Sr., a retired banker of Homer, who is also well known in the city of New Orleans where he has spent much of his time in recent years and where two of his sons arc active in business life. A more extended reference of the father is made on another page of this work regarding his life and activities.

Andrew R. Johnson, Sr., married Julia C. Pittman. There are eight living children: Four sons and four daughters, all of whom received the advantage of colleges and universities. One of the sons, W. Nash Johnson, is a successful young lawyer at Shreveport.

Another son, Patrick Henry Johnson, is a planter in Claiborne Parish. Benjamin M. Johnson is assistant examiner of the New Orleans Clearing House Association. Andrew R. Johnson, Jr., youngest of the four sons, graduated from the Louisiana State University in 1920. He took postgraduate work in the University of Virginia and in the school of banking and economics at Harvard University. Since 1922, he has been a state bank examiner, his official headquarters being in New Court Building at New Orleans. He married Miss Margery C. Ogden, of a prominent Louisiana family.
