Court Records

To the left you will find all of the court records we have on this site. These records came from the LAGenWeb Winn Archives files. If you submitted a file but cannot find it, please contact the Parish Coordinator or the State Coordinator.

Please Note: We do not have these records. We have index lists to help you find your ancestors and a few records that are shown, no copies of original records.

Criminal Cases: These are divided into years from 1800-1980. This is just a limited number of files from those periods, but a very interesting place to look.

Deeds and Land Records: Had land tract records from the tract book as early as 1865.

Parish Government: This had petit and grand jury records as early as the 1880s. If your ancestor served on a jury, they would be listed here.

Reconstruction Files: These are "dark" notes on Reconstruction in Winn Parish.

Tax Lists: Names of Winn Parish taxpayers listed in "The Index of Tax Assessments of Winn Parish" beginning in 1865.

Successions & Probates: Two courthouse fires prior to 1885 destroyed all Winn Parish court records. Currently, "the old blue book" at the Winn Parish Clerk's Office indexes probates (curatorships, successions, emancipations, and tutorships).
