Bienville Cemeteries
This is the first census for Bienville Parish, which was created from Claiborne Parish in 1848. Prior to the 1850 census, you will have to research Claiborne Parish census of 1840.
The 1850 census is also the first United States census listing all members of a household by name and giving their place of birth. It also gives value in real estate, value in personal estate, year married, year in school, if able to read or write, enumeration date and remarks. All of the categories are not included here, as you will see. If you find your ancestor, please go to the original microfilm records for the rest of the information. This will also provide a chance to check the information you find here.
There is no 1860 census for Bienville Parish, which was either lost or destroyed.
The ALPHABETICAL LIST page will give you an opportunity to search for your relative by their LAST NAME. Clicking the name will provide a link to the CENSUS DATA page for that name and you can see the whole family as shown in the census for that person. If you know the FAMILY GROUP NUMBER from the census, you can select one of the FAMILY GROUP pages that contain that number.
Beware or "be aware" of census takers' spelling". Please remember that the spelling is the way the census taker spelled it. We have only re-typed it from the copies that Billie Gene Poland made, so we did not try and correct any spelling, but left it as is. We hope this will help you out, or provide you with clues to your ancestors.
