This photo is generously provided to Historic River Road Collection© by Mr. Jacob Wilbert who received it from his grandfather, the late George Wilbert. Jacob is presently restoring his grandfather's story and a half raised cottage, facing the bayou Plaquemine and located next to the mill. The house was built by Capt. John Calhoun Brown whose steam boat is seen parked right in front of his house. This is the St. Johns Cemetery headstone of Capt. John Calhoun Brown.
There are people standing in a number of places, clothes on the lines at many homes, St. Johns Cemetery is seen to the top of the lumber storage area and across the street from St. Johns Cemetery is the much smaller Protestant Cemetery.
