Downey Darriel Guidry "Speedy" died at 7:00 PM on December 17, 2011. He was a native of Hayes, LA
and a graduate of Bell City High School. He served his country in the U.S Air Force during the
Korean War and married Geraldine (Jeri) hodes Moore in 1979. Downey retired after 30 years with
Schlumberger Offshore making many friends. Most noted among them were Mervin (Rita) Bergeron
with whom he hunted at the Lucky Buck Hunting Club in the Atchafalaya for 30 years, and his beloved
lifelong friend, Jimmy (Elaine) Dejean. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Cooking was his favorite thing to do and large family gatherings centered around "Paw-Paw" and his
cooking. His grandchildren were the love of his life. Whether trips to the Children's Museum or the
Millennium Park, or picking pecans or kumquats in the backyard, Paw- Paw was tops to his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Jeri (Rhodes Moore) Guidry; sons Carroll, Paul, Michael
and Patrick (Lucy) Moore, a daughter, Beth (Ricky) Guidry and one brother, Elmer Wade (Jeannette) Guidry.
His beloved grandchildren are Cody Guidry, Jessica Moore, Nadia Choates, Ashley Guidry Joiner, Alexandra
Moore, Alyse Guidry, Gabrielle Moore, Patrick Moore, Jr., Natasha Moore, John (Sarah) Warner, and Cassie
(Chris) Bellard. Great Grandchildren include Madison Bellard, Gianna and Isaiah Warner and Ayla Joiner.
He was also blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents Lucien and Edna Guidry, his brother Wayne (Ponk) Guidry, his
nephew Devin Guidry, and his in-laws Herbert and Molly Rhodes.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Hixson Funeral
Home of Lake Charles with a rosary service at 6:30 PM. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday,
December 20, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lacassine
Cemetery.
