Flora Belle Canik Broussard





Jennings

Visitation for Mrs. Broussard will begin Sunday evening, August 12, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. and will continue until
8:00 p.m. The Catholic Daughters will recite a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday morning at
8:00 a.m. and continue until time to leave for church.

She was born August 9, 1929 in Lake Arthur; the sixth child of Frank and Veronica Theriot Canik.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James W. Broussard; three sons-Bill(Judy) Broussard of Somerset, KY,
Clay (Tammy) Broussard of Lafayette, LA and Steve (Dana) Broussard of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her
three grandchildren; Blake Broussard of Houston, TX, Rachel Broussard of Covington, LA, Kimberly Greene of
Somerset, KY and by many nieces and nephews that she truly loved.

Mrs. Broussard was preceded in death by her parents and all six of her siblings and their spouses-Ferd (Claire)
Canik, Opal (Floyd) McFarlain, Whitney (Mary Ruth) Canik, Chico Canik, Pete (Tootie) Canik, Mackie (Dickie)
Chapman.

Flo was a 1947 graduate of Lake Arthur High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at W. B. Donald Chevrolet. She
then worked as a secretary at West End Elementary, the Jefferson Davis Parish School Board Office, and finished
her career at Lake Arthur High School.

After her retirement in 1989, Flo and Jim were active in gardening, Catholic lay ministry and church choir, leisure
travel, as well as being square dance members of the Square Shooters of Jennings. Flo also gave back to her
community as a Jennings American Legion Hospital Auxiliary member (aka Pink Lady).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or Our Lady Help of Christians
Church, both of Jennings, LA; or Our Lady of the Lake Church in Lake Arthur, LA.
