Rite Held For Mrs. Spaetgens' Father in Welsh

Her many friends throughout this area will join Acadian-Tribune in extending
sympathy to Mrs. Spaetgens in the death of her father, Wilbert Perry, 84, who
passed away Thursday, April 14, in the Welsh General Hospital in Welsh.

Funeral services were held in Lake Arthur at Lady of the Lake Catholic Church
on Saturday,d April 16, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Grath of Jennings, long-time friend
of the family, officiating.

Buriel followed in the St. Anthony Cemetery in Lake Arthur, with Segura Funeral
Home of Jennings directing arrangements.

Native of Kaplan, Mr. Perry had made his home in Lake Arthur for many years,
and for the past 17 years he had resided in Welsh. He was a retired tugboat
engineer, and a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his widow, the former Eugenie Broussard of Welsh; two sons,
Henry Perry of Lafayette and Herald Perry of Lake Charles; four daughters,
Mrs. Emma Bridy of Jennings, Mrs. Joyce Gay of Mermentau, Mrs. Charles (Barbara)
Spaetgens of rural Crowley, and Mrs. Ronnie Gauthier of Saudi Arabia; three sisters,
Mrs. Nick Potier of Gueydan, Mrs. Melie Babineaux of Kaplan, and Etta Herrignton of
Cow Island; 27 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Spaetgens, her mother, and others of the family have asked that their thanks
be expressed to the many friends from the area who visited the funeral home in
Jennings, recited the Rosary, attended the funeral in Lake Arthur, and assisted
in so many other ways to give comfort and sympathy in their time of sorrow and
bereavement.
