Adams, St. Clair

Submitted by Mike Miller

Adams, St. Clair, lawyer, is a native son of Louisiana, born in the city of New Orleans, Oct. 26, 1878. His father, Joseph Sinclair Adams, was born in South Carolina, and was a son of Rev. John Adams of that state. Joseph S. Adams was educated at the University of Virginia; was a law graduate of Tulane university; practiced law in New Orleans, and died here when only twenty-nine years of age. He married Miss Augusta Pugh, and left three children, namely, Margaret, St. Clair and Sturges Adams. St. Clair Adams was reared in New Orleans; attended the public schools, graduated in the law from Tulane university in 1900, and immediately began the practice of law in New Orleans. From 1900 to 1904 he was assistant district attorney; was assistant city attorney from 1904 to 1908, and district attorney from 1908 to 1913. In all of these positions Mr. Adams served with exceptional ability. His services as district attorney were of unusual capability, his record in the office being such as to win for him an enviable reputation. Mr. Adams is a member of the American bar association, and a member of the executive committee of the Louisiana state bar association. He is a member of the Pickwick and the Chess, Checkers and Whist clubs. In 1902 he married Miss Elizabeth, the daughter of Gen. Euclid Borland, of New Orleans, and is the father of fourchildren: Charlotte, Beatrice, Elizabeth and St. Clair.
