Buhler, Eugene F.

The Buhler Building Supply Company, 44 Carondelet street, New Orleans, established the present business in 1891, with E. F. Buhler as president and manager and Campbell Lewis as secretary and treasurer, but Mr. Buhler has been engaged in this line of business for fifteen years. They deal largely in mantels, grates, floor and art tiles, art, beveled, plate and window glass, terre cotta chimney tops, etc. are progressive and active, and stand high in commercial and financial circles.

Eugene F. Buhler was born in New Orleans in 1860 and his parents, John and Christian (Seither) Buhler. were natives of Germany. They came to New Orleans about 1840, and here the father followed the bakery business for many years. They were the parents of seven children. The eldest, Joseph Buhler, is now proprietor of the Planter's Rice mills of New Orleans, and another son, Louis, is a successful grain merchant. Eugene Buhler, aside from the above mentioned business, owns a large hardware and house furnishing store at 438 and 440 Dryados street. He is doing an extensive city and country business and is full of push and energy.

Mr. Buhler is interested in all movements for the progress and advancement of city and gives liberally of his means to further all enterprises. He is a charter member of the Mutual Loan & Building company and a member of the finance committee. In politics he is strictly democratic and socially be is a member of the American Legion of Honor, Knights of Pythias, Young Men's Gymnastic club, Olympic club and member of Mechanics' & Dealers' exchange.
