Richard Supple. Bayou Goula, La.,
the efficient manager of the mercantile establishment of his mother,
Mrs. J. Supple, is a well-known figure in commercial circles in
Iberville parish. The business of which he has chargewas founded by
his father, Jeremiah Supple, in 1866, and was conducted by him until
his death, which occurred in 1883. The mother's maiden name was
Catherine Gillick. Richard Supple was married in 1880 to Miss
Ernestine Lefeaux, a daughter of Charles and Felicie (Hotarch)
Lefeaux. One daughter was born of this union, who was named Felicie.
Thomas Supple, a brother to Richard, is the manager of two
plantations which were a part of the deceased father's estate, they
contain about 1,300 acres and the most important production is
sugar. Thomas Supple was married to Miss Bertha Carnell, daughter of
Joseph Carnell. Joseph Supple, another member of the family, is
assistant bookkeeper in the store. He married Eloise Hanlon, a
daughter of Maurice and Eloise (Budreaux) Hanlon; they are the
parents of one son, Joseph. The families are members of the Roman
Catholic church. The Supple brothers are all enterprising,
energetic, ambitious young men, and are held in high esteem
throughout Iberville and adjoining parishes. Jeremiah Supple was for
ten years connected with the police jury, and was a most efficient
member.
