James Cross Murphy - Co.B., Lousiana Guards, Capt. Girardy belonging to the 1st La., regiment C. S. A. under Col. Blanchard. He was soon promoted to the rank of 1st Lieut., but was killed Aug. 9, 1862, at the battle of Cedar Run, being, it is said, the first man killed in his company.
