Robert Benton and Sarah Denham of Denham Springs. Robert was the owner of the Benton Ferry and Sarah was the sister of William Denham, whom Denham Springs was named after. They were married on May 7, 1846 in Orleans Parish.

Robert Benton was the Postmaster in Bayou Barbary. He was appointed 25 Jan 1856.
