This cemetery description is copied from the book,"History of Beauregard parish", Vol I. It is small and on private property so we decided to gather the information in this manner. "This cemetery, located about 9 miles south of DeRidder, about 3 miles west of Highway 171, is on the Old Military Road. It was established about 1896 when Marktree Baptist Church was organized There for the Bishop and Coots families. There are four graves: 3 Bishops, 1 Blackmon. (This site, halfway between Hickory and BarnesCreeks, was known as marked tree pens where cattle were penned and branded.)" BISHOP, 3 MARKED GRAVES

BISHOP CEMETERY
In February 1995, Jack Wooley and Darryl Bailey graciously agreed to get permission and take us to this small cemetery located on private property. The 3 Bishop children have simple white marble tombstones. It is on private property and is fenced with no gate. To get there, my husband and I drove through some lovely dairy farm country which I never knew existed. We turned onto Mennonite Road from US171 south of DeRidder. At a "t" in this road we turned south, then west again at the first right turn. At the first intersection on this road, we again turned south. About a mile farther on we met Jack and Darryl who unlocked the gate for us. Another mile brought us to a side road to the east. Being wet weather, we walked about ¬ of a mile to the cemetery. 4 tall pine trees were our landmark to find this lonesome little cemetery.
