She was 62 and a native of Port Allen. He was a wonderful person who loved much. He was 56 and a resident of Port Allen. He was killed tragically in a train accident on Monday, June 26, 2000. He was an engineer with the Canadian National Illinois Central Railroad for more than 30 years. He was president of the Brotherhood of Local Engineers 914 and chairman of the Louisiana State Legislative Board of Engineers. At age 68, he died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2000. He was a native of Bogalusa and a resident of Pierre Part. He was founder of TLC Mobile Medical, a portable X-ray service in Louisiana and Alabama. He was known throughout the nursing-home industry in both states for playing Santa Claus to thousands of residents for 15 years. He also played Santa Claus on his Sea Doo in the annual Belle River Christmas Boat parades. He was an entrepreneur, a staunch believer in alternative medicine, and gladly shared his knowledge, love and trust with everyone he met. He was in the cardiopulmonary service business at the time of his death. Survived by his wife of 33 years, Jewel Faye Forbes Cooper; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Theresa and James Rizzutto, Port Allen, Jessica and Mike Beck, Prairieville, and Valerie and Deak Cooper, Houma; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Clay and Ashley Foulks Cooper, Baton Rouge, and Joel Cooper, Port Allen; a foster daughter, Jenny Ramirez, Baton Rouge; his father, Jewell C. A lifelong resident of Port Allen, he died at his home on Friday, Aug. 4, 2000. He was 75. He had retired in 1992 after serving 32 years as sheriff of West Baton Rouge Parish. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Visiting was at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Allen, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, past Grand Knight and a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2875, former commander of McKinley Bourg Post of the American Legion, a former president of the Louisiana Sheriff's Association, a member of the board of directors of the Bank of West Baton Rouge and the Louisiana Sheriff and Pension Fund board of trustees. He was actively involved with Baton Rouge Kids Baseball Clinic, Boy Scouts of America, West Baton Rouge Crimestoppers and numerous other charitable organizations throughout his life. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Claire Lefebvre Bergeron; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lynette and Joey Hebert, Debbie and Allen Schexnaildre, Amy and Barry Terrell and Yvette and Curtis Collins; three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Carla Spedale Bergeron, Brian Bergeron and Brett and Tammie Hopkins Bergeron; 18 grandchildren, Rory and Ryan Hebert, Erin, Matthew, Amanda and John Gross, Blaine, Brittney and Blake Bergeron, Jessica and Jeremy Terrell, Adam and Marcus Collins, Brant, Tanner and Braydon Bergeron, and Hannah and Bradley Bergeron; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Kitty Barbay Bergeron and Gordon "Rev" and Lorraine Barras Bergeron; a sister and three brothers-in-law, Gloria and Cliff McDaniel, Wilson Cazes and John Bru; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Lefebvre; and a brother-in-law, George "Zip" and wife Emma Lee Pourciau Lefebvre.
