Old Bellwood Cemetery

Old Bellwood Cemetery is located adjacent to the Kisatchie National Forestry Work and Visitors Center complex about three 3 miles south of Bellwood, LA. Traveling south on LA Hwy 117, the small entrance road will be on the left just before reaching the large Kisatchie Forest sign. Take this road for about 100 yards and turn left north into the cemetery parking area.

There are a number of rocks, stones, broken slate or concrete pieces marking burial sites, as well as three illegible markers. A concrete vault marks the grave of a child, but has no inscription. This cemetery is occasionally referred to as the Montgomery Cemetery.

The cemetery is located in a very wooded and rustic area. It is fenced and well maintained. Separate, but only a short distance south, another small road leads to a picnic area, furnished with tables, benches, and small grills. This picnic area is a part of the Kisatchie National Forest complex and is available for public use.
