NOTE: While they are not two geographically separate cemeteries, you are
likely noticing a distinct separation on the property because the
grounds are shared by two different denominations:
1. The Baptist
Cemetery: Associated with the Siloam Baptist Church itself.
2. The
Methodist Cemetery: A separate denominational section located right next
to or on the same broader Siloam plot. Historical records indicate the
Baptist church actually moved its structural site some years prior,
leaving the shared plots tightly clustered together near the original
grounds.
The confusion usually arises because local historical records and
mapping platforms alternate between these names depending on whether
they are referencing the community or the church associated with the
grounds:
• Gansville Cemetery reflects the geographic location—the
rural community of Gansville located off Louisiana Highways 505 and 1234
in northern Winn Parish.
• Siloam Cemetery (sometimes historically
spelled Silome) gets its name from the Siloam Baptist Church, which sits
on the exact same plot of land.
